EVANS – The driver shot by deputies after a car chase in Evans Wednesday night is a deputy in Adams County. The deputy’s condition remains unknown.

Greeley Police said authorities chased two vehicles, including one car going 131 mph on Highway 85, and eventually stopped them in Evans. According to a statement from police, officers contacted one of the drivers and an officer fired.

It’s not clear what led up to the shooting or which departments were involved in the chase. A spokesperson for the Greeley Police Department says the officer who fired was not with their department or the Weld County Sheriff’s Office.

The shooting marked the tenth officer-involved shooting in Colorado since the start of the year.
