COLORADO SPRINGS- Poor Richard’s Restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs continues to provide free meals to furloughed government workers. Owner Richard Skorman said they’ve given away more than $2,000 worth of food to more than 200 families.

The workers just have to show their government ID for the free meal and order anything off the menu.
Skorman said the families are so humble and appreciative.

“I can’t tell you how many people have come up, a little teary-eyed, and saying … ‘We really appreciate you doing this. Nobody has thought of this in the whole crisis. We’re not people that are wealthy and this is a big help,” Skorman said.

And other community members are helping give back as well. Skorman said other customers are donating money to keep things going.

He said they’ll provide free meals as long as they can.
