PUEBLO WEST – Two Pueblo West middle schools will have extra security measures in place Thursday following anonymous tips about a possible shooting plot.

Liberty Point International School posted to itsFacebook page Wednesday night that it and Skyview Middle School were the subjects of a  threat overheard at a Pueblo West Walmart store.

The threat said two bearded men dressed in long black trench coats “were talking about coming to those schools and ‘shooting them up.'”

The person who reported the threat said they were going to do it on Jan. 10, 2019. The tip is currently being investigated by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and Pueblo District 70.

As a precaution, extra Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies will be at both schools. Liberty Point International will be “locked in.” That means that only students, staff, district administration and law enforcement will be allowed in.

Liberty Point International said that if parents feel their students should stay home, they will be excused.
