PUEBLO COUNTY – The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of a convenience store early Tuesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office said the robbery happened around 5 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Loaf ‘N Jug store in Blende.

Deputies responded to the store at 2610 Santa Fe Dr. at about 5:15 a.m. The clerk told the deputies that a man entered the store wearing a bandana and carrying a gun.

The man walked behind the counter and pointed the gun at the clerk before demanding all the money in the cash register. The suspect left the store with an unknown amount of money.

A moment later, the clerk said she saw a white vehicle leave the parking lot going eastbound on Highway 50.

The Sheriff’s Office said a deputy later observed a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 47 at a high rate of speed. The deputy was unable to stop the vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was later found abandoned on a North Side street. The suspect has not been located.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect is described as a Hispanic male between 5’8″ and 5’10” tall, weighing about 140 pounds. He was wearing a black hoodie, tan shorts, grey gloves, and a bandana over his face.
