1/8/2019 UPDATE – The Colorado Bureau of Investigation has identified LaBrea Jackson of Aurora as the woman found dead at an abandoned truck stop in Aguilar.
Jackson was reported missing in December.
LAS ANIMAS COUNTY – With assistance from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, the Las Animas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains located near the town of Aguilar on Jan. 6th.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded after residents walking in the area near an abandoned truck stop on I-25 reported the remains just after 3 p.m.
Members of the CBI processed the area where the remains were found, and the county Coroner will work to identify the remains and determine the cause of death.
The Sheriff’s Office said further details will not be released until the autopsy is completed Tuesday.
