COLORADO SPRINGS – The effects of the shutdown are being felt in Southern Colorado, as hundreds of cars lined up at the “Care and Share” mobile food pantry distribution Friday in Colorado Springs.
This is the third in a series of giveaways over the last few months, and organizers say they were ready for the large turnout. “What makes these so timely this month is that we’re experiencing a government shutdown right now, and we know that it really does have an impact for a lot of families here in Colorado Springs,” said Joanna Wise.
Extra food for the recent giveaway came from the USDA.
The next mobile food pantry will be in Pueblo on January 10 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. In the Springs an upcoming pantry is scheduled for January 18 from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the distribution center.
