CASA holds annual “Santa Shop”

Posted

PIKES PEAK REGION – The Court Appointed Special Advocates that carry on the fight against child abuse and neglect held their annual “Santa Shop” Tuesday.

Volunteers from CASA got to pick out toys and clothes for their appointed children at the event.

Being removed from friends and family around the holiday can be difficult, and kids who’ve been removed from their homes often can’t take many things with them.

“It’s a terrible epidemic and it’s so sad, but the community really does a wonderful job of coming through for these kids and trying to make the situation better for them,” said Keri Kahn of CASA.

The Pikes Peak Region reportedly has the highest number of calls to the child abuse hotline in the state. The organization said they expect to help more than 300 foster kids this year.
