FLORENCE – The Florence Police Department arrested an escaped inmate from the Skyline Correctional Center just after midnight Wednesday morning.
The Colorado Department of Corrections said Leonard Sittingbear “walked away” from the correctional center around 12:05 a.m. Wednesday.
Sittingbear was convicted of motor vehicle theft and traffic violations out of Douglas County, and has been eligible for parole since April. He started serving his sentence in May 2017.
The Department of Corrections had not released any information about how he escaped. It’s being called an active investigation.
