Christmas Tree permits available for trees on BLM land

Posted

CAÑON CITY – Permits are now available for anyone wanting to cut down their own Christmas tree on Bureau of Land Management public lands in the greater Canon City area through December 24th. Permits can be obtained at the Royal Gorge Field Office which is located at 3028 East Main Street, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The permits are $10-dollars each and there is a limit of two trees per household. Printed maps of suggested cutting areas and information on harvesting a tree are also available at the field office.

You’ll need to bring along a handsaw, eye protection and rope or twine. You should also bring along some snacks, water and a blanket. Because you may encounter snowy conditions, tire chains, a shovel and emergency supplies are also a good idea.

The Royal Gorge Field Office accepts cash, checks and credit cards for payment. If you need more information about Christmas Tree cutting on BLM Land, please call them at 719-269-8500.
