EL PASO COUNTY – The Sheriff’s Office announced Friday afternoon that rumors of a threat to students and staff at Widefield District 3’s Mesa Ridge High School are unfounded.

Several people have called law enforcement to ask about the rumors.  Details on what someone was claiming have not been released.

The school has continued operations normally all day long without interruption.

Colorado’s Safe2Tell program is an option for students to submit reports phone calls, a mobile app or online. The program launched in 2004, created in the aftermath of the deadly shooting at Columbine High School.

Safe2Tell also offers students the opportunity to notify the authorities when they see something suspicious in their school anonymously.
