The Sheriff’s Office started the search for Johnson this morning when his ex-girlfriend reported a burglary with a weapon at a home on S. Circle before 7 a.m. She told deputies he left the area in a truck that contained more guns.
The truck was found later abandoned on N. Nevada and the search began in earnest.
The manhunt spread across I-25, and near the UCCS campus, where officers searched the area for Johnson. Just before his arrest, Police had lifted an emergency notification for people living north of University Village.
Johnson faces charges of First Degree Burglary, Felony Menacing, Possession of a Weapon by a Previous Offender, Third Degree Assault, Harassment and other outstanding warrants.
