COLORADO SPRINGS – An organization whose mission is to place memorial wreaths on thousands of military graves across Colorado needs your help.

Colorado Honor volunteers are ready to place those wreaths, the problem is, they don’t have enough. Last year 20,000 wreaths were placed, and they hope to place that many this year. But the truth is, some 100,000 graves statewide will remain bare.

“The most heartwarming thing is when there’s a wreath with a grave,” said David Bolser who works with Colorado Honor. “The most heartbreaking issue is when there’s not enough wreaths for all the graves.”

Most of the graves are at Ft. Logan Cemetery, but it’s estimated that there are around 9,000 graves in Colorado Springs.

Wreaths are $15 a piece and the deadline to donate is Dec. 3. When you order a wreath, you can designate where you would like it to be laid. Wreaths will be laid as a part of a nationwide ceremony on Dec. 15.

If you would like to donate, you can do so through the Colorado Honor, coloradohonor.com.
