EL PASO COUNTY – The Sheriff’s Office had to shut down streets and call out the bomb squad to a street off Bradley Road Thursday afternoon as someone found a possibly dangerous device.
A man told deputies he was replacing the furnace in his home when he noticed what appeared to be an unexploded mortar or rocket.
The homeowner said he’s been in his home for 20 years and never noticed it before.
Officials weren’t concerned it could blow up as it was near the furnace for so long, but they shut down streets as a precaution while bomb teams removed the device.
They determined it was a training device that did not contain explosives.
