No officers injured, suspect shot during officer-involved shooting in Pueblo

PUEBLO – Pueblo Police said a suspect was injured during an officer-involved shooting early Tuesday morning near downtown.

Police said two officers were involved in the shooting and a male suspect, identified as 34-year-old Michael Francsico, was taken to the hospital with “apparent” non-life threatening injuries.

No officers were hurt in the exchange, which happened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Pueblo Police Captain Kenny Rider tells News 5 the officers responded to the area on reports of shots fired in the area. Rider tells News 5 the suspect was armed.

He said officers made contact with the suspect in the yard outside of a home, and that’s where the shooting occurred.

There is a large and active police presence near the intersection of Abriendo and Midway Avenue. Midway is shut down while authorities perform their investigation. Drivers should avoid the area.

Pueblo Police tell News 5 this is the sixth officer-involved shooting in the Steel City this year.
