FORT CARSON – The U.S. Army announced Thursday that the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team will deploy to Kuwait next spring.
They will replace the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team as part of a regular rotation of forces.
“We are equally proud of our Iron Brigade soldiers and all that they have accomplished over the past year as we returned from deployment in Europe, refocused our efforts on other threats to our nation, retrained and prepared to deploy again. The dedication of our soldiers, along with the support of our families and the local community, has enabled us to maintain the highest levels of readiness possible,” said Col. Michael J. Simmering, commander of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team in a news release.
According to Fort Carson’s website, the combat team is comprised of nearly 3,800 Soldiers including the: 4th Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment; the 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment; the 1st Battalion, 68th Armor Regiment; the 3rd Battalion, 29th Field Artillery Regiment; the 3rd Special Troops Battalion; and 64th Brigade Support Battalion.
