ELLICOTT – There were some scary moments at Ellicott Middle School on Wednesday, but thanks to some of the students, the story didn’t end tragically.

News 5 spoke with Chris Smith, the Superintendent of the school, an eighth-grade student threatened to injure himself while school was in session. Smith credits many of the other students with helping the young man before anything serious could happen.

Officials at the school are going to try and do all they can to work with the family to help resolve some issues that the teenager may be experiencing. The Superintendent posted a letter about the incident on the school district’s web page and on their Facebook page on Wednesday afternoon.

Crisis counselors will be at the school on Thursday in case any of the students or the staff want to discuss any concerns.
