COLORADO SPRINGS – Construction crews are shutting down a stretch of N. Academy Blvd. overnight on Wednesday and on Thursday.
It’s part of a project to install concrete girders on the west side of the new bridge over Cottonwood Creek.
Detours will be in effect starting at 8 p.m. lasting until 5 a.m. both nights. Southbound traffic will exit Academy Boulevard using Woodmen Road. From there, drivers can drive east to Union Boulevard. or west to Vincent Drive where they can drive south to catch Dublin. Drivers can then drive back to Academy.
Northbound traffic will be detoured at Dublin Boulevard. Drivers can also drive to Union or Vincent and then drive north to Woodmen Road and back onto Academy Boulevard.
The $7 million project is expected to finish next spring.
