COLORADO SPRINGS – The driver of a pickup ran had a string of bad luck this morning at Murray and Galley in Colorado Springs.
There was a water main break. Then the water running out froze on the street. And finally, the truck hit the ice and slid off the road, right into the Murray Hill Apartments.
While the driver of the truck was not hurt, the crash ruptured a gas line inside the shed. Apartment management was able to have the gas supply turned off rather quickly.
Firefighters evacuated the area and four units because of the gas leak.
Colorado Springs Utilities will repair the leak at the buildings, but people who live in the units affected may not be able to return home soon due to structural damage.
