DOUGLAS COUNTY – Roxborough State Park is closed again today while the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers search for a missing person who may be suicidal in the park for the second day.
An announcement was sent out on social media on Monday, saying the park was closed while a search and rescue mission was being conducted. Roxborough State Park comprises nearly 4,000-acres, according to the Colorado Parks & Wildlife website.
60 searchers, six canines, two unnamed aerial vehicles, and a helicopter searched late into Monday night before suspending the search until Tuesday morning.
Right now, there’s no estimated time for when the park will reopen to the public.
Roxborough State Park is famous for its red rock formations and has trails varying from a half-mile long to more than 6 miles.
