DOUGLAS COUNTY – The Turkey Track 8 Fire burning in Douglas County was determined to be caused by shooting Monday night.
Fire crews have been working to put out the blaze that started over the weekend. The fire isn’t that far from a nearby shooting range and was determined to be human-caused, officials said. The shooting range is closed at this time.
As of Monday afternoon, the fire was 30% contained on 160 acres of land 8 miles north of Woodland Park.
Crews are working to secure the lines by piling large logs and allowing them to burn.
There was an increase in smoke seen in the area and it can be seen along Hwy 67. You’ll continue to see smoke for several says as fire burns out or is extinguished by rain.
Drivers are being advised to show caution when traveling through the area.
