Outdoor illegal marijuana grow busted in eastern Pueblo County

PUEBLO COUNTY – Pueblo County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 61-year-old man suspected of growing 63 marijuana plants outside his home in eastern Pueblo County Monday.

Deputies arrested Cleveland Canida, 61, for cultivation of marijuana (30 or more plants) in connection to a grow found in a fenced off area of his yard. Canida was later booked into the Pueblo County jail.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a home in the 1700 block of Cortner Road after receiving a tip about a possible illegal grow. When deputies made contact with Canida, he showed them the area. Deputies then obtained a search warrant, arrested Canida and seized the plants.

Deputies estimate the value of the plants to be $189,000.
