COLORADO – Governor John Hickenlooper has ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff today to honor Staff Sgt. Diobanjo S. Sanagustin, a soldier stationed at Ft. Carson with the 4th Infantry Division.
Sanagustin died on September 4th from a non-combat injury while serving at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan.
The National City, California served as a squad leader in 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. He served 11 years in the U.S. Army with deployments to Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Fort Carson officials say he just arrived at Fort Carson for his latest assignment in January. He deployed to Afghanistan in May 2018.
“He made a lasting impact on the Manchu formation and we will forever cherish his memory. Our deepest condolences are with the Sanagustin family,” said Lt. Col. David Uthlaut, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment commander.
