EL PASO COUNTY – A woman is in custody after a standoff with El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies Monday.

Deputies arrested 31-year-old Amy Weeks without incident after a more than four-hour-long standoff. The Sheriff’s Office said Weeks was wanted on several warrants in connection to firing a gun during a domestic violence incident.

Deputies first responded to the scene in the 2300 block of Klein Place, near Constitution and Marksheffel around 2:50 p.m. Monday. Deputies said Weeks tried to escape, but ran back into the house when she encountered deputies.

Authorities tried to get her to surrender, but were unsuccessful. She stayed inside the home until the SWAT teams entered and arrested her just after 7 p.m.

She was booked into the El Paso County jail Monday night on outstanding felony and misdemeanor warrants.
