Two Air Force cadets face charges for hazing incident

COLORADO SPRINGS – Two cadets at the Air Force Academy are accused of organizing and participating in hazing activities and trying to influence statements in the investigation.

Cadet First Class Lars P. Knutson and Cadet First Class Michael B. Hannigan are accused of dereliction of duty violating Article 134 (wrongfully impeding an investigation)  in connection to the incident.

The Academy said both cadets were charged on Sept. 6. The cadets were accused of coordinating and attending a “hazing incident” at the Academy. Details about that incident have not been provided.

Knutson and Hannigan will have an Article 32 hearing (similar to a grand jury hearing) sometime in the next three weeks.

Knutson and Hannigan could both be expelled from the Academy if found guilty.
