One man is dead and another person is injured after a car went down the embankment, rolled over and smashed into a light pole on Academy Blvd. just south of Constitution.
The accident happened just a little before 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night and the lanes were closed down until early Sunday morning.
Colorado Springs Police Lt. Howard Black says that speed may have been a contributing factor to the deadly crash. He also said this is the 36th fatal accident in Colorado Springs this year.
The official cause of the accident is still under investigation and the names of those involved have not been released at this time.
