PUEBLO – The Pueblo Police Department tells News 5 it needs more volunteers.

There are currently 15 volunteers working with the program called Volunteers Assisting Pueblo Police (VAPP).

Program coordinator Jennifer Parker wants to bump that number up to 30.

“I think it is important to help the police department so that they can focus on what they need to be doing on the streets, doing their detective work, protecting Pueblo as a community, while we do all the fluff stuff and help out where needed,” she said.

The VAPP program helps police in community events, handicap parking enforcement,  training scenario acting, and other tasks.
