A 17-year old boy is dead after an early morning shooting in northern Colorado.

Loveland Police officers responded to a house on the 3000 block of North Duffield Avenue just after 1 a.m.

The person who contacted police said the 17-year-old wasn’t breathing and the suspect had left the house.

When the emergency responders arrived, they determined that the 17-year old was deceased.

An 18-year-old suspect was taken into custody a short time later. Police believe the two men knew each other, but they did not expand on what the relationship was.

Investigators are looking into what led to the shooting and they said alcohol may be a contributing factor. Police did find the gun involved.

The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released at this time and no charges have been filed.
