PAONIA – The latest earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter Scale struck an area in Gunnison County roughly 10-miles east of Paonia on Sunday afternoon. It’s the sixth earthquake to hit the west side of the state in less than 10-days.
On Wednesday morning, Moffat County experienced a 3.2 and a 2.7 magnitude quake within a two hour period.
Three other quakes occurred in Rio Blanco County on August 24th and 25th, with the strongest one this year in the state registering at 4.1.
Two other quakes were reported just south of the Colorado state line in New Mexico on the August 24th, with the strongest one measuring at 3.6 on the Richter Scale.
No injuries were reported and any damage caused by the quakes is unknown at this time.
