AURORA – Police said two men injured in a shooting Friday evening near the CU Anschutz Medical Campus have died.

Aurora Police said the officer who was shot in their protective vest was released from the hospital Saturday.

Police said a juvenile victim and the shooting suspect are still hospitalized.

The officer, victims and suspect names have not been released, pending family notification.

Police said in a news conference Friday night that an officer shot a suspect after hearing gunfire coming from an alleyway. Aurora PD said the officer and the suspect exchanged gunfire and both the officer and suspect were shot.

It’s not clear at this time if police gunfire hit any of the victims who died or were injured.

Police are asking for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward to assist in their investigation. If you know anything that could help, call Detective Matthew Ingui at 303-739-6067.

Aurora PD also said all responding officers were wearing body cameras at the time of the shooting. The officer will be placed on routine paid administrative leave.
