COLORADO – The state is planning to roll out a new system to process assistance in Colorado.

The Colorado Department of Human Services will be updating the Colorado Benefits Management System, which is used to process all food assistance, Colorado Works, adult assistance and medical assistance.

The update is expected to affect service across the state. The system will be down the entire day on Sept. 7, 2018 during the three day update.

PEAK, as well as all phone and personal device apps, will also be unavailable during the update. All county human services staff will not have access to any case until Monday, Sept. 10th. That is the day the system is expected to come back up.

Food and cash assistance issued before the system shutdown date will be available with EBT cards. The EBT system is not affected by this update, which means issuing new cards will also be operational.

El Paso County plans to keep their offices open through the system update and will be able to accept applications and case file documents. As a caution, El Paso County staff will not be able to process applications or provide specific case information until the system is restored.

In order to get everyone prepared for the update the El Paso County office will extend their lobby hours in the days leading up to the outage.

From Tuesday, Sept. 4th through Thursday, Sept. 6th the main lobby hours in the Citizens Service Center will extend to 6:00 p.m.
