Fountain Police introduce new K9 donated by Shield 616

FOUNTAIN – Fountain Police’s newest member will join the department in September following a special graduation ceremony.

The department announced “Phoenix,” a dual-purpose police dog donated by the non-profit group Shield 616, will graduate on Sept. 10.

Officer Jon Kay, will be the dog’s handler and will attend the graduation ceremony.

In a news release, Fountain PD thanked Shield 616 for donating the dog. Shield 616 has donated body armor kits to local law enforcement agencies and on Wednesday, it donated body armor kits to Colorado Springs firefighters.

Phoenix is the first police dog donated by the organization.
