COLORADO SPRINGS – The Family Development Center at UCCS is closed Thursday while police investigate a deadly shooting that happened in the parking lot just before 10 p.m. Wednesday.
According to police, the 19-year-old was shot in the parking lot, then taken to the hospital by friends. Doctors were unable to save his life. As of 9 a.m. Thursday, the victim’s identity has not been released.
Police say there is currently no threat to the public as they have spoken to everyone involved in the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, and you are likely to see police cars and crime scene tape south of Austin Bluffs Parkway if you are driving past the UCCS campus this morning.
All of the campus remains open with the exception of the Family Development Center.
