COLORADO SPRINGS – A jury trial is scheduled to begin this morning for Derrick Davis who is accused of first-degree murder for the death of George Maldonado during the robbery of Full Throttle Auto Service in 2017.
Police say Davis and an accomplice dressed up as utility workers in order to get access to the shop in July 2017. The two men allegedly tied the owner up and kicked him multiple times, causing his death.
Davis was arrested in Minnesota following an intense manhunt that also resulted in the arrest of Eric Grant in Philadelphia.
Grant was found guilty of first-degree murder, murder, assault, aggravated robbery, and conspiracy to commit robbery in June. He’s serving a life sentence without parole.
