PUEBLO – The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help to tackle illegal marijuana grow operations in the county.

The agency is asking for $35,000 to cover special equipment needed to store seized marijuana and for equipment used in busts.

Deputies say they’ve busted 41 illegal grows from January 1 to June 30.

“It’s very important because the sheriff’s office is left having the bear the cost of the investigation,” said Chief David Lucero. “We don’t want to discourage the community from calling we want them to call this is just an added resource that puts money back into the county coffers so that we can continue to be aggressive keep this out of our communities.”

Deputies ask residents to report suspected grows by calling Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP.
