Friday morning got off to a rough start for an officer called to check on suspected drug use and others who were called in for backup during a chase.

Just after 8:00 a.m., the original officer was called to check on a man seen passed out in a car with a needle in his lap.

According to Pueblo Police, the man immediately took off running rather than talk to the officer, who then ran after him.

At some point an officer was bitten by a bee or wasp, while another injured a wrist. The chase lasted for several blocks as police tried to stop the suspect who was running really fast and also tried to get into another car.

The chase ended with the suspect in cuffs at the Elmwood Golf Course on the west side of town.

Pueblo Police haven’t released the name of the man arrested or the names of the officers involved.
