COLORADO SPRINGS – Weeks after hosting a fundraiser at restaurants in Colorado Springs and Pueblo, Texas Roadhouse presented  $1988.20 check to the La Veta Fire Protection District Thursday.

Three restaurants held fundraisers on July 16 to assist the department.

The money will help the department repair trucks and equipment damaged in the massive 108,045 acre wildfire that threatened La Veta and the town of Cuchara in late June and early July.

We just appreciate Texas Roadhouse and all the residents,” said Paula Berg, president of the La Veta Fire Protection Auxiliary. “Our fire’s now the second largest in Colorado history. We’re a very small volunteer department and we so appreciate any help that we’ve gotten.”

Workers at the restaurant told News 5 they’re happy to help.
