LA JUNTA – The La Junta Police Department has lifted evacuations for 2 blocks around Carson Avenue following the investigation into a possible explosive device.

Before 11 a.m., the Pueblo bomb squad and federal ATF agents were called in to help check out the device found in the alley.

The police department sent out notifications via phone and Facebook to let people in the area know that they need to leave their homes.

As of 1:45 p.m., all evacuations were lifted and people were allowed to go home.

The police department has not provided details on what raised concerns about the device and whether they found it posed a danger.
