PUEBLO – A house neighbors described as an eyesore was demolished Wednesday afternoon in Pueblo.

Neighbors expressed concerns about squatters, illegal dumping, and drug use at a house near the corner of 8th and Kingston for more than a year.

“Everybody dumps all their trash here all the time, because it’s empty. It has been an ongoing thing for years,” Miguel Lopez said. He lives next to the home.

“I am glad they are getting it torn down. There have been a lot of fires and all kinds of different things happening over there,” Daniel Bayliss said. He lives across from the demolished home.

Their concerns were answered by the City of Pueblo Wednesday heavy equipment pushed the home over in front of News 5’s cameras.

“I am just happy. As soon as everything is cleaned up, I  will be happy. There will be an empty lot, nobody will be coming in and out of yards, nobody will be coming to the houses, we’ll be good,” Lopez said.

The next step in the process is for crews to clean up and haul away what’s left of the home. Workers at the demolition site say they have to get permits from the state to pick up the pieces. They say, that should be done within a month.
