COLORADO SPRINGS – The Colorado Springs Police Department announced it has selected four intersections to install red light cameras.
Police said cameras will be installed at the following locations:
- North Carefree Circle @ Academy Boulevard – Northbound Approach
- East Platte Avenue @ Chelton Road – Eastbound Approach
- Briargate Boulevard @ Lexington Boulevard – Westbound Approach
- Dublin Boulevard @ Academy Boulevard – Southbound Approach
Police said they will be releasing more information about the implementation of the cameras in the upcoming weeks.
Police told News 5 earlier in 2018 that the location of the cameras was decided by analyzing collision data, speed issues, intersection volume and construction, pedestrian safety and more.
Once the program results are assessed, there are plans to install six additional cameras in the next 12 to 18 months.
