There's a group shedding light on a different type of unsung hero emerging from this pandemic: mothers.
This group is made up of other moms who want to lend some support.
They're members of the Christian non-profit organization called "MOPS, which stands for "Mothers of Pre-schoolers," but it's open to moms from all walks of life.
The non-profit has been around since 1973 and actually started in Denver, where they're still headquartered. Since then, its reach has grown significantly.
It now helps provide resources to about a million moms across 67 countries each year. Membership costs can vary depending on location, although Mandy Arioto, the president and CEO of MOPS, says it can cost $30.
However, there are free online resources you can access.
Right now, MOPS is providing a virtual space for moms to connect with each other while giving them the chance to talk to experts about matters like mental health, how to navigate technology, and how to plan day-to-day activities for the kids.
The group hosts a free Facebook live every Tuesday, where moms can chime in and submit comments, questions, and interact with guest speakers.
"[Moms] operate on half the amount of sleep as the rest of the world," Arioto said.
"The fiercest creature on the planet is a momma bear. And so I would just say, you're doing an awesome job. Even if today fell apart, tomorrow is going to be better and that we're all in this together."
