COLORADO SPRINGS – There will be a new road closure near downtown Colorado Springs that will start this weekend and stretch into December.
Starting on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 6:00 p.m. Pikes Peak Avenue will close between S. Institute Street and Hancock Ave. During the closure, crews will work to install new underground utilities as well as fix the roadways.
There will be marked detours through the area.
For vehicles heading eastbound traffic will be diverted to S. Institute, to E. Cucharras, to S. Hancock and then back to Pikes Peak.
A similar pattern for westbound traffic, S. Hancock, to E. Platte, to Wahsatch and back to Pikes Peak.
The detour is expected to be in place through Dec. 15th, however, the project is weather dependent and the schedules are subject to change.
