The Ride for the Brand Championship Rodeo is back!

The action really starts on Friday at high noon with the Longhorn Cattle Drive taking place in the middle of downtown Colorado Springs.  The event started in 2003 and people have been lining the streets for years to watch the cattle drive taking place on the city’s modern streets.

The big event takes place on Saturday, but all the action starts today. You can catch the longhorn cattle drive at noon, where dozens of cows will run down Tejon in downtown Colorado Springs.

Keep in mind the cattle drive will impact traffic on S. Tejon Street and E. Vermijo Ave. from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Then the weekend brings bronco riding, wild-cow milking, ranch branding and of course trailer loading. That takes place at the Norris-Penrose Event Center.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Gates open at 4 p.m.Tickets are available here.

The rodeo was formed to showcase our own local ranch cowboys and give back to the foundations that support them. Teams from ranches across the country join to compete in an evening of fun and tradition. The cowboys involved, work all week on their ranches, sorting and moving cattle, starting colts, doctoring and branding calves, and they ride for the legendary brands that still represent the heart of America’s livestock industry today.

The event is unique to Colorado Springs. Following the rodeo on Saturday night, attendees can enjoy a night of entertainment featuring Jason Boland & The Stragglers.

Organizers are looking to fill the stands again this year with 3,500 fans watching their WRCA sanctioned event.
