It’s nearly time for the Colorado State Fair and the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment is getting the word out to encourage the community to make smart choices about buying food from peddlers.

Two summers ago inspectors ticketed more than 40 people selling home-cooked burritos and other foods without a license during the state fair and Fiesta Day parades.

They tell News5 that food safety is critical for public health and you can always ask to see vendor’s sticker or badge which indicates they are licensed.

Those items prove that the food the vendor is selling meets state cleanliness and safety standards.
