VALLEY COUNTY, Idaho – An Idaho man is lucky to be alive after he crashed his plane into a tree and stuck the landing Monday night.

The Valley County Sheriff’s Office responded to a notification from an emergency beacon and a 911 call from a McCall man who said he was stuck in a tree after he crashed his plane.

First responders were able to get the man, identified as 79-year-old John Gregory, out of the plane and back to the ground safely. Authorities said the plane was stuck approximately 60 feet off the ground.

The Sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post that it will not disclose the exact location of the plane to keep people away from the area in case it falls.

“People are highly encouraged to stay away from this crash. A simple gust of wind could bring this plane crashing down. We do not want to see anyone get hurt by going to see the plane,” Valley County Sheriff Patti Bolen.

It’s unclear how crews plan to get the plane down from the tree.
