COLORADO SPRINGS – One local group is helping to ensure soldiers are set to go, as they return home from their tours of duty.

Divine Redeemer Catholic Community is collecting donations, including new sheets, comforters and even socks for the Warrior Warehouse. After receiving the items, volunteers at Fort Carson take the donations and make the soldiers’ rooms ready to live in when they return from their tours of duty.

Members of Divine Redeemer say the project isn’t just about helping out soldiers, it’s about giving a lesson to the future generation.

“Whether it be through the military, through the church, through their jobs, through their families…they will understand that they are called to be servants to others.” Father Brian Roeseler of Divine Redeemer said on the importance of youth learning to serve those who serve or who could be in need.

The group does a service project each year around the Easter Holiday.

Last year, they collected shoes for the homeless.
