PARIS – A ceremony Thursday in Paris honored firefighters who ran into Notre Dame Cathedral to battle flames and save iconic treasures during a massive fire earlier in the week.
A large crowd gathered outside of Paris City Hall as officials praised the firefighters, saying they have the city’s “infinite gratitude” and “eternal appreciation.”
France’s Interior Minister said, “We will never, never, never give enough praise” to those who worked to save the cathedral.
The Mayor and Interior Minister walked to the cathedral alongside the Archpriest of Notre Dame, and Paris’s Fire Brigade Chief and Police Chief.
