PUEBLO – An exciting new change coming to Lake Pueblo! It will now be much easier to plan your camping trips this summer. Lake Pueblo is moving to a reservation only system.

No more wondering if there’s an open spot in the park. Now you’ll be able to check and make a reservation in just a couple quick clicks or a phone call.

Here’s how it works. Want to book a trip to Lake Pueblo? Log onto cpwshop.com or dial 1-800-244-5613. You will immediately be able to see your options, and if you change your mind it’s just as easy to cancel your booking.

“You can see exactly what sites are open, which are full, if there are sites available or not,” explained Jason Hagan a Park Ranger at Cheyenne Mountain State Park. Cheyenne Mountain State Park has been using the online booking system since last July.

“If somebody cancels, it automatically takes them out of the system,” continued Hagan. “Then somebody else, in theory could book that site a couple minutes later.”

In the past, you had to book 3 days in advance. If you didn’t, it was all first come first serve. This means – if you made a last minute decision to take a camping trip – chances were slim that you’d get a spot.

There’s also no longer a reservation fee! The new system starts Monday, April 1st.
