JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KSDK) – A proposed bill in Missouri would allow death row inmates to give the gift of life.
House Bill 630 would let inmates donate his or her organs when they’re executed.
The bill would require lethal injections to be administered in a way that would not affect the inmates’ organs.
Opponents to the bill have raised ethical concerns about physicians participating in executions, and that inmates could be coerced into donating their organs.
The bill has been introduced in the Missouri House of Representatives, but it has not been assigned to a committee. If passed, it would go into effect in August.
