DAYTONA BEACH – A new tool that looks like a gadget out of a superhero movie is helping Florida detectives make non-lethal arrests.

The crime-fighting device, called the “Bola-Wrap,” is made by Wrap Technologies.

With the push of a button, it fires a cord the company says is made from Kevlar. That cord wraps around the subject’s body to impede movement, and possibly give law enforcement another option in taking down suspects.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office posted a video of law enforcement testing the device Wednesday.

Wrap technologies says the Bola-Wrap works from a distance of up to 25 feet.
