PARIS – American singer Chris Brown has been released from custody in Paris while police investigate a rape complaint against him.
Brown and two other men were freed by French police late Tuesday.
French prosecutors said Brown has been authorized to leave the country pending the results of the investigation.
The singer strongly denied the accusations made against him. A post on Brown’s Instagram reads “I wanna make it perfectly clear….. this is false.” He continued on saying, “For my daughter and my family this is so disrespectful and is against my character and moral!!!!!!”
A judicial official said Brown and two other men were arrested Monday on potential charges of aggravated rape and drug infractions.
According to the official, the 24-year-old woman who filed the complaint claims she allegedly met Brown and his friends at a Paris nightclub called The Crystal Lounge.
The woman said she was raped in Brown’s suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on January 15th.
This is not Brown’s first run-in with the law. The 29-year-old has been in repeated legal trouble since pleading guilty to thefelony assault 10 years ago of his then-girlfriend, singer Rihanna.
Brown completed his probation in that case in 2015.
